GET NAUGHTY IN YOUR BUSINESS
And it could be for any project or your business as a whole, or even just your lifestyle. And that is to really sit down and ask yourself the question, “If I could be naughty and thrive in my business, what would I do?”
And this really starts to reframe and have you think a little bit outside the box. Gives you a chance to get a little audacious and out there and unorthodox in the way that you're approaching your business. And what that usually does is it breathes in a breath of fresh air into the room, into your headspace, into the way that you look at things. So try it out.
If I could be naughty and thrive in my business, what would I do?
HOST A VIRTUAL EVENT
My very first virtual summit tripled my email list, booked out my services for six months, and brought in $16,000, which is four times what I normally made in a month. At that time, since then, I've hosted summits making ups to up to $60,000. And my most recent lead to a $63,000 course launch. And I do not have a huge audience.
So, how do you start? I want you to begin by thinking about who you'll host your event for. So if you target a wider audience like online business owners, creatives, women, moms you'll need to get more specific than that. For example, photographers, wedding professionals, fiction writers. Those are some really great examples I've seen lately. I want you to narrow in to something like that.
From there, identify a specific problem. Those people need to solve a very specific problem, not just grow their business. You have to drill down and solving that problem is your summits topic. From there, you'll be able to start to see how you can host an incredibly impactful event, stand out in a sea of all the other events out there and skyrocket your business in the process.
DOCUMENT YOUR SYSTEMS AS YOU GO
This will make hiring a new team member so much easier because they can just watch the video created to learn the process. And then eventually a written SOP can be created straight from the video. Then in the future, as new team members continue to come on board, you'll have a video library of your processes, which will serve as a training hub for all of your team.
80:20 RULE FOR NEW PROJECTS
The 80:20 rule. 80% is you're working on the current business that's still working, that's bringing in the money that you need to pay your bills. And then 20% is the dedicated time that you carve out to work on your special project of your membership or your digital course. What that will do is it will protect your time and your income.
It keeps money coming in and then it keeps you consistently working on your membership or course without burning out, but also not letting too much of that time spent on that work seep into the other parts of your business that are currently generating revenue.
It might take longer, but you will avoid burnout and you will also avoid losing a ton of money because you've now switched all of your efforts into course creation or membership creation mode. And so I still want to encourage you to go for those things. But do it intentionally, do it strategically, and keep that in mind.
