PRACTICE GRATITUDE
So I find that filling my cup with things that bring me joy and practicing consistent and sincere gratitude has helped me both in my work and in my personal life where my gratitude practice has helped me manage my anxiety, survive tough days, and remain at the forefront of the fight for racial justice.
So here's to more joy, more gratitude, and more glasses, half-full in 2021.
GIVE YOURSELF A LITTLE MORE GRACE
Make sure that these expectations that you're setting for yourself are totally of your own and are realistic. If anything quarantine has taught us is that time is a relative and you need to just make sure that you're doing things in a timeframe that works best for you. And that really plays up your strength and the amount of energy you can give it. We're all doing our best.
DO A QUICK AUDIT OF YOUR CRM
The next thing is to review your canned emails, to make sure that the content is updated. If you shifted your services or process, and that you have emails for all the potential outcomes, like if they don't respond or if they complete a proposal, but didn't sign the contract just yet.
The next thing is to review your workflow. Do you still do all of the steps that are in that workflow or does it need to be updated? Anything that's missing or maybe that you need to take out because you don't do it anymore or do you do it in a different way?
So you just need to tweak it just a little bit during this kind of quick audit of your CRM will give your leads and clients an elevated experience and save time in the future.
TAKE A WRECKING BALL TO YOUR STORIES
In school, we’re taught to start at the beginning of a story to set the scene, but the beginning isn't usually intriguing or compelling. And for the purpose of telling stories through our brand, the beginning can either be cut completely or positioned later in the structure. And that's where the wrecking ball comes in with or without Miley Cyrus on it.
Start the story right in the middle, drop your reader in at the moment of impact conflict, interest, or drama pique their curiosity first. And then you can follow up with context once they're hooked.
So, as an example, “She waived 22 red flags at me and I ignored everyone.” That probably isn't something people have already seen that day. They're probably like 22 red flags. What are they? And why did she ignore them?
If you want your audience to ignore the distractions and pay attention to what you have to say, you've got to give them a good reason to. Applying the wrecking ball to your story marketing will help you do that.
